2010 RAD Summer School in U.K.(Album)

After a long flight, I finally arrived back in London. I was here seventeen years ago becoming a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Dance and as an Associate of the Imperial Society of Teacher of Dancing. And this time, I enrolled my daughter as well as three of my students to participate in the 2010 Royal Academy of Dance Summer Program. The girls were registered and began their week long dance studies right away. During their lessons, I had a chance to re-familiarize myself with London; shopping on Regent Street and at Harrod and eating the infamous fish and chips. Some of the other families went to surrounding cities such as Brighton and Bristol to sight see. Even though all the adults would be tired when arriving back at the Royal Academy of Dance, the girls would still be brimming with excitement and energy.
I took my daughter to Covent Garden where there were intriguing and funny street performers and ballet stores nearby. At night, we watched some of the unmissable musicals produced by various London theatres. Mamma Mia! was an entertaining and nostalgic show; the Lion King included intricate, well-designed costumes; and my favorite which was absolutely brilliant and breathe taking, Billy Elliot, consisting of amazing choreography of ballet, tap, etc... as it told the story of a boy ballet dancer trying to break out of his social class constraints. And after a long day, we stayed overnight at the Langham Hotel where its design was flawlessly beautiful, even the envelopes were marked with elegant prints. On our very last day, the parents had a chance to watch their children week long efforts placed into a performance. They did ballet, creative movement where they had a chance to freely express their inner feelings, and street dance where the children got to show off a bit of attitude. The Royal Academy of Dance never ceases to amaze how they inspire children to love all types of dance and to find their own passion.
